WACDRI is WAFSC’s community centered framework for helping West Altadena recover from the Eaton Fire while preparing for future wildfire, climate, and disaster risks. It brings resident knowledge, trusted partnerships, local data, workforce development, and practical risk reduction into one coordinated initiative.

What WACDRI Does
WACDRI supports resident outreach and navigation, community mapping, risk and needs assessments, situation reports, workshops, neighborhood preparedness, partner coordination, and long term recovery planning. The initiative begins in West Altadena and is designed to expand as community capacity and partnerships grow.

Community Education
Residents will have access to monthly workshops, quarterly learning events, preparedness resources, and opportunities to help shape priorities for recovery, home hardening, defensible space, environmental resilience, and neighborhood safety.

Workforce Exploration and Training
WACDRI connects participants with paid training and certifications in areas such as basic wildland fire, forestry, chainsaws, FEMA incident command, GIS, drones, data collection, defensible space, and environmental field work. Training may be delivered through WAFSC, community colleges, workforce agencies, and approved partners.

Data for Community Power
Community surveys, field observations, mapping, and situation reports will help residents and partners understand changing conditions, identify unmet needs, guide investments, and advocate for an equitable recovery.

A recovery process where West Altadena residents are informed, organized, prepared, and positioned to lead the decisions and work that will shape the community’s future.
